PM Roble, Regional Presidents and Opposition Meet Over Ongoing Polls
Somali prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has held talks with the opposition leaders and regional of regional states over the ongoing parliamentary elections and presidential elections.
According to the spokesman of the premier, Mohamed Moalimuu, the meeting conducted via video conference discussed improving electoral procedures.
PM Mohamed Hussein Roble chairs a virtual meeting via zoom attended by the National Consultative Forum and in which was focused on expediting elections and improving electoral procedures,” Moalimuu said.
He added that the meeting was also attended by the opposition presidential candidates including former presidents Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, and the leader of Wadajir Party Abdirahman Abdishakur.
The meeting came after the opposition leaders boycotted an ongoing parliamentary election, citing widespread voter fraud and irregularities in the process early this month.
They urged PM Roble to convene regional state leaders, civil society, and the international community to fix the ”ongoing electoral fraud.”
