Parliamentary Elections To Kick Off Next Week - FEIT Chairman Mohamed Irro
The Federal Electoral Implementation Team (FEIT has announced that elections for the 11th parliament will begin next week in the regional administrations.
Mohamed Hassan Irro, chairman of the Federal Electoral Commission, said the commission was ready and called on regional administration leaders to play a role in holding the lower house elections.
”We join the members of the International community in urging for the timely conclusion of the ongoing elections. The FEIT is committed to expediting the electoral process,” Irro said.
Irro added that the towns of the regional administrations scheduled to hold the elections will be provided with complete election materials, such as ballot papers, ballot boxes and other important items.
“Our election process has been dragging on for a long time, the prospects are good now, the Parliamentary elections will take place as soon as possible,” Irro added.
The remarks of the FEIT chairman came just hours after Somalia’s international partners expressed concern over the delay in the country’s elections, and called on federal and state leaders to faster electoral process
