Khat Trade Talks In Somaliland FA Minister Kenya Tour
A delegation led by Cabinet Secretary of Kenya’s Ministry of Agriculture Peter Munya arrived in the capital of the breakaway region of Somaliland.
In a brief statement, Munya said he met Somaliland led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Kayd Essa and discussed Khat trade with his counterpart.
”Our deliberations majored on various issues of collaboration which include opening up and enhancing trade lines for Miraa, Livestock and other agricultural-related products,” said Munya on a Twitter post.
A fortnight ago, the UN’s top court ruled largely in favour of Somalia in its long-running dispute with Kenya over their maritime border.
The case concerned a 38,000 sq mile (100,000 sq km) triangle in the Indian Ocean that is thought to be rich in oil and gas.
The two neighbouring countries previously clashed after Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta held talks with Somaliland leader Muse Bihi in December 2020.
