Farmaajo Meets with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohamed
Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo on Sundayreceived at the Presidential Palace a high-level United Nations delegation led by Secretary-General Amina J. Mohamed.
According to a statement from the presidency, President Farmaajo and the UN -Secretary-General discussed strengthening United Nations-Somali relations, completing the country’s elections, empowering women and accelerating the process.
The statement said the UN-Secretary-General commended the rebuilding of the security forces, the debt relief process, economic growth, the fight against corruption and the fight against COVID-19.
President Farmajo shared with Amina J. Mohamed the Federal Government of Somalia’s commitment to protecting human rights and implementing the principles of good governance, and thanked the United Nations for its support to the Somali people.
The arrival of the heavy delegation comes at a time of intense disagreement between President Farmajo and Prime Minister Roble, which appears to be unresolved.
