Somalia reports 96 new COVID-19 infections
Somalia reported 96 new COVID-19 cases from a sample size of 1,943 tests conducted over the past 48 hours, bringing the country’s total number of cases to 17,726.
According to data published by the ministry of health, the country’s death rose to 997 after five new patients succumbed to the virus.
Of the new cases, 49 were male while 9 were female.
Some 59 people recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of successful recoveries to 8,663.
In August, Somalia received more than 300,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine which were donated by the U.S. through the international COVAX facility.
COVID-19 cases in Africa reached 7,869,709 as of Saturday afternoon according to Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).
