Somalia's Presidential Candidates Demand Answers Over Spy Agent Ikraan's Death

The Council of Presidential Candidates (CPC) have called on Prime Minister Mohamed to appoint a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the murder of female intelligence officer Ikran Tahlil Farah.

In a statement, the union requested the premier to dismiss the Director of the nation’s Somali intelligence agency, Fahad Yassin.

“An investigation should be conducted by a committee of experts that will be reporting directly to the office of the prime minister on a daily basis. May Allah have mercy on Ikran and give patience and faith to her family. We extend our condolences to the family of Ikran, ” read part of the statement from the council.

“To save the reputation of the intelligence agency and restore people’s shattered confidence in the agency.PM Roble must sack the director of NISA, investigate his role in this matter, and limit his activities during the investigation, ” the statement added.

On Thursday, the intelligence agency claimed Ikran Tahlil who is missing for over two months was abducted and killed by al-Qaida affiliated group Al-Shabaab which is fighting to over throw the central government over a decade.

The group via online refuted any role in the killing of Ikran saying they claim responsibility when they target NISA officers.

Earlier speaking to VOA Somali service, Qali Guhad mother to Ikran denied that Al-Shabaab killed her daughter blaming NISA for the disappearance of her daughter.

CCTV footage captured Ikran picked in a vehicle on June 26 as the country marked independence before she disappeared.
