NISA claims missing female agent killed by Al-Shabaab

Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency has confirmed missing female agent Ikran Tahalil has been killed by Al-Shabaab militants.

In a statement published by the state media the intelligence agency said it has since launched manhunt for the militants behind Ikrans death.

In an interview with VOA Somali Service, Qali Mohamud Guhad the mother of Ikran refuted that her daughter is killed by the militants and pointed a finger at the intelligence agency.

“My daughter was NOT murdered by al-Shabab, let NISA tell us reasonable thing we can believe in” Guhad told VOA Somali service.

Somalis on social media have expressed outrage and blamed the death of Ikran on NISA.

Reacting on the news former Somali Prime Minister Omar Sharma’arke called on PM Mohamed Hussein Roble to appointment a committee to investigate the murder Ikran.

“It is very sad news to hear that Ikram Tahlil was murdered. The PM, by necessity, should consider appointing a Commission, with all the relevant institutions, mandated to go to the bottom of this mysterious case.” said former Somali PM sharma’arke.

Ikran disappeared on June 26 as the Horn of the African Nation marked independence. In CCTV footage Ikran was seen picked in a vehicle from her home in one of the surveilled areas in the capital Mogadishu.
