Somalia submits its plan on climate change to UN
Somali Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guled has said that Somalia has submitted its national contribution plan to the United Nations in line with the Paris agreement on climate change.
”I am delightedly to announce that Somalia submitted the Nationally Determined Contributions in line with the global and the Paris Agreement obligations of Climate Change,” Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Guleid said in a brief statement.
The Paris Agreement outlines a global framework to combat climate change, which aims to reduce global warming.
Article 4 of the Paris Agreement states that the parties must take steps to reduce air pollution, with the aim of making rapid reductions in air emissions.
It also aims to strengthen countries’ capacity to deal with the effects of climate change.
Following the ratification of the 2015 Paris Agreement, the parties were required to submit their national contributions by 2020.
