Somalia and Kenya discuss bilateral relations

Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble met with Kenyan Ambassador to Somalia Lucas Tumbo in his office today to discuss bilateral relations.

The meeting was Prime Minister Roble’s first meeting with Kenyan Ambassador Lucas Tumbo, since the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

”H.E the PM Mohamed Hussein Roble receives Kenya Ambassador to Somalia Lucas Tumbo who paid a courtesy call for the first time since the restoration of relations between the two neighbouring countries. PM Roble assures Somalia’s commitment to continue improving bilateral relations with Kenya,” Media Adviser to the Prime Minister Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu said in a statement.

Prime Minister Roble and the Kenyan Ambassador discussed the need to strengthen ties between the two countries and enhance cooperation.

In May this year, Somalia restored diplomatic relations with neighbouring Kenya almost six months after severing ties after it accused Kenya of meddling in its politics.

Nairobi and Mogadishu have also been at loggerheads over a maritime and territorial dispute, that is currently before the International Court of Justice, ICJ, in The Hague.
