National Consultative Conference kicks off in Mogadishu
Somali leaders have kicked off National Consultative Conference at Afisyoone in Mogadishu on Monday.
The National Consultative Conference, comprising the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and the Federal Member States (FMS), was initially scheduled for Saturday by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble. It then pushed to Monday after some of the leaders arrived in Mogadishu late.
”National Consultative Conference chaired by PM @MohamedHRoble kicks off at Afisyoone on Monday. Meeting attended by Presidents of Puntland, Jubbaland, South West, Galmudug, Hirshabelle & BRA,” Somali government spokesman Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu said in a statement.
The conference will be discussing election updates on the basis of the 27 May agreement and the way forward according to Moalimuu.
HirShabelle state leader Ali Gudlawe who boycotted to attend the conference is also participating via ZOOM after Prime Minister Roble held a phone conversation with the leader and solved his concerns on the consultative talks.
Somali Premier last week invited regional state leaders alongside Benadir governor for the National Consultative Conference to review the recently adopted electoral agreement ahead elections.
