Somali MPs In Kenya Raise Red Flag Over Rising Cases Of Kidnappings
Somali MPs in Kenya have raised a red flag over the increasing kidnappings of Somali women.
In separate Kamukunji constituency member of parliament, Yussuf Hassan and Garissa Town MP Aden Barre Duale called on Authorities to speed up investigations of the missing Somali girls.
”Deeply concern at the spate of kidnappings, rising violence, & gender-based killings sweeping thru Kamukunji, which have sparked growing fear & panic in the community. I’ve written to the Inspector-General to take urgent & visible measures to protect civilians and I’m calling on the police to act quickly, deploy more patrols, and ensure the safety and security of the targeted community and neighbourhood,” Kamukunji MP Yussuf Hassan said.
Speaking to local media Garissa MP Aden Barre Duale called for a probe over the missing Somali girls.
Last week Somali business girl was kidnapped. Hafsa Lukman went missing on Tuesday 15th June as the kidnappers demanded a ransom of five million Kenyan shillings.
A video was soon released showing her with serious injuries and her asking her family to give kidnappers what they want.
The news has been trending on social media across the east African country.
