Somali PM visits blast victims in Mogadishu

Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble met the injured victims of the recent victims of a suicide blast at a military base who have been receiving treatment in Mogadishu.

Ten people and twenty others were injured on Tuesday morning after a suicide bomber blew himself up at the General Dhagabadan military facility in the Wadajir district of Mogadishu.

”The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein Roble, paid a courtesy call on young people injured in a terrorist attack on Gen. Dhegabadan’s military training camp in Mogadishu,” office of the Prime Minister said in a statement.

Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Al-Shabab which aims to topple Somalia’s government and impose its own harsh interpretation of Islamic law controlled were driven out of Mogadishu by Somali troops, backed by African Union soldiers.

Despite the loss of territory, Al-Shabab still carries out major gun-and-bomb attacks, often claiming casualty numbers that conflict with those given by government officials.

In recent days, Somali National Army intensified operations continue pushing the group from villages in successive military operations.
