PM Roble Names Committee To Probe Alleged Deaths Of SNA Troops In Tigray War
Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has named a committee to probe the missing boys sent to Eritrea to train as protests, demanding answers intensify in Mogadishu.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Prime Minister appointed the five-member committee which included the Minister of Defense Hassan Hussein Haji and Somali Ambassador to Ethiopia Abdullahi Ahmed Jama.
”The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble has appointed a committee to investigate the complaints of Somali parents who say they have not received any information from their sons who have been sent to Eritrea for training,” Media Adviser to the Prime Minister,”
The move by the premier came a day after Somali parents demanding the whereabouts of their sons sent to Eritrea rallied in Mogadishu.
On Thursday night Somali Information Minister Osman Dubbe denied reports that Somali troops were trained in Eritrea and fought in Ethiopia’s war in Tigray.
Dubbe acknowledged that there were Somali soldiers in Eritrea but said they were training and not in active conflict. he likened the situation to Somali soldiers being trained in other allied countries, like Turkey or the U.S.
