AU appoints ex-Ghana president as a special envoy to Somalia
African Union Commissioner Mousa Faki has appointed former Ghanaian President John Mahama as the African Union’s Special Representative for Somalia.
In a statement, Mousa Faki said John Mahama would work with political stakeholders to compromise on a mutually acceptable compromise.
“President Mahama will work with Somali stakeholders to reach a mutually acceptable compromise on holding Somalia’s elections in the shortest possible time,” the AU Chairperson’s statement said.
He called on political stakeholders and the international community to work with the new envoy.
