Day 1 Polls Crisis Meet Kicks Off With A No Show By Madobe & Deni
Somalia’s President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and pro-Farmajo regional governments along with Benadir regional administration have concluded a preliminary meeting and discussed on Completion of Electoral dreadlocks and the implementation of the agreement of 17 September 2020 approved by the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
Speaking at a press conference immediately after the talks after the Information Minister Osman Dubbe called on the leader of Jubaland and Puntland to participate in the consultive forum which was scheduled to kick off on Monday.
”The president has chaired the meeting ahead of the National Consultative Forum Meeting,” Dubbe said.
”we call and on the leaders of Jubaland and Puntland and hope they will participate in the talks,” he added.
Sources have confirmed to Radio Dalsan that Jubaland and Puntland leaders boycotted the talks citing security of the venue.
Sources also revealed that the duo demanded the role of President Farmaajo in the talks and the need to have guarantors in the talks.
The National Salvation Council, an opposition party, also consists of the two-state leaders are holding a pre-summit meeting in Mogadishu before the Halane conference between the Federal Government and the regional states begin.
This meeting acts as a preparation for the Halane conference and plan on the major NSF concerns on the current political stalemate in the country.
