Al-Shabab claims responsibility for bomb attack on military officer
At least one person was killed and several others wounded including a senior military official in a roadside bomb attack on Saturday night.
Colonel Omar Abdirahman Somali National Army official was wounded in the attack and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment according to witnesses.
The attack took place in the Mogadishu Hamar Jajab district near where the proposed venue of the federal government and regional members states elections talks.
Al-Qaeda linked group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack online.
The attack comes as the leaders of the regional states and the federal government gathered in the capital Mogadishu for the sixth round of election talks to find a way of implementing the September 17th pre-election deal which was signed last year.
Al-Shabaab militants often carry out an ambush attack against military officials, civil servants AU forces and sometimes civilians.
