Deni In Mogadishu For Poll Talks

Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni arrive in the Somali capital to participate in the sixth round of electoral talks in Somalia.

An advance heavily armed with guns and Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs) security team of Deni landed at Aden Adden Airport in Mogadishu this morning.

Deni’s counterpart Jubaland leader Ahmed Madobe arrived in Mogadishu on Wednesday in a similar style.

The sixth round of talks between the federal government and the regional state leader is expected to take place at the Aden Adde airport in Mogadishu to find a way of implementing the September 17th pre election deal which was signed last year.

The UN security council on Friday called on the Somali political leaders to resolve their differences and hold elections as soon as possible.

Somalia was supposed to hold parliamentary elections late last year and presidential elections on 8th February but differences between the leaders of the federal and regional governments delayed the polls.
