Fourth Post Civil War National Secondary Examinations Begins

Somalia Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire on Saturday launched the National Secondary Examinations where 27,600 students from across the country will be examined.

Khaire accompanied by the Governor of Banaadir Abdirahman Omar Osman and Education Minister Abdirahman Dahir Osman oversaw the start of the examinations at Mogadishu’s 15 May Secondary School.

The examination will be sat in 120 centers in the five regional states and Banaadir.

“I have inspected several from the 62 examination centers in the Banaadir region. I can say it has been a success. This is a positive sign for the future of our youth” Governor Osman said.

Security has been beefed up in the examinations  center after 2016 explosion that targeted the an examination center in  the Somalia capital Mogadishu.

The examination will be supervised by more than 2500 invigilators.

 

5,000 more students will be examined in 2018 up from 23,000 in 2017.

A centralised national examinations was introduced in 2015 two and half decades after the fall of the Siad Barre government.
