Amisom Troops Deployed At Parliament Buildings Amid High Political Crisis

African Union peacekeeping troops have been deployed at the Somali parliament buildings on Saturday to take charge of the area’s security.

Sources have revealed to Radio Dalsan that 100 Amisom Ugandan troops have been deployed at the premise to reinforce the government security officers on guard.

This followed a dispute between the Lower House Speaker Mohamed Osman Jawari’s and the Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre.

On Friday, Jawari accused the Prime Minister of ordering the army to army to seize the parliament buildings and security of the area is out of their control.

Later, State Minister for Security Hassan Maalin Hussein told reporters in Mogadishu that more security officers were deployed at the parliament buildings to reinforce those who were already on guard and that there were no special forces deployed as said by the Speaker.

There will be no parliament session today.

On Wednesday, a proposed motion of no confidence against Jawari flopped after it failed to get the required numbers MPs to sign it.

However, on Thursday Deputy Speaker Abdulkadir Mudey announced that the motion is legitimate and will be brought to the house.
