Somali Minister For Transport Announce Date To Take Control Of The Airspace
Somalia’s Transport Minister Mr Mohamed Abdullahi Omar has announced that within few days, the government will officially take full control of its airspace.
“Thanks to God we are glad to tell the Somali people that we will take control of the Somali airspace on 28th of this month as we pledged before and we will hold a grand opening ceremony for the office”, said the Minister who spoke to the media on a phone while in Canada.
The Minister stated that some foreign agencies will be involved in the air operations control until the government trains Somali staffs who are capable of handling the work on their own.
Mr Omar added that the most important thing is Somalia to monitor and control its airspace after 27 years – a move he said to be of a great achievement to the Somali people and their government, for lack of it means a country is not fully independent.
