Government Criticized Over fights Between Members Of Its Forces
For the last three days, there were fights between members of the government forces which lead to the death and injuries of civilians and members of the forces at the tarabunka junction in Hodan district, Mogadishu.
In one incident, a group of security officers who were given orders to evict people who occupy a government land and defied government orders to move out of it were blocked by another group who are also members of the government security forces but are there to defend those defied the government orders on basis of tribe. Disagreement between the sides escalated and finally, the two sides fought.
Yesterday, armed military officers who were found in the city without orders from the military command defied an order to disarm them by a special force set for disarmament in the city. This has also led to a fight between the two sides and eventually one civilian was killed and three officers from both sides were injured.
Iman Abdullahi Khalif who is a Mogadishu resident said that it’s very unfortunate that such incidents where the government forces fight among themselves within the civilians happened several times in the city and that its lack of responsibility by the government leaders as there is no any officer held responsible for those acts.
