Puntland Boycotts Regional Meeting Over Location
Deputy President of Puntland Mohamed Amey has announced that the region will not attend a summit proposed by Jubaland President Ahmed Islam Madobe if the venue is not changed.
Madobe last week proposed a meeting of heads of the regional states to take place in Jubbaland state capital Kismayu.
Speaking to VOA Somali Amey said they would only attend the meeting of it is held in Mogadishu.
“We have to go to Mogadishu if we are serious with this matter. Mogadishu is our capital” Amey said.
” It is unnecessary to meet in Kismayo. Let’s meet at the government seat and discuss this important issue.”he added.
Radio Dalsan has also learnt that other regions share similar concerns over the location of the summit.
A source has told Radio Dalsan that Hirshabelle is opposed to the meeting been held in Kismayo.
