Presidential Candidates Demands Relocation Of Poll Venue From Police Academy To Halane
Nineteen presidential candidates on Saturday asked the Parliamentary Election Committee to relocate venue of the February 8 from the Police Academy to the Amisom base in Halane Mogadishu.
In a letter by adressed to the committee the candidates accuse top security chiefs of siding with the incumbent Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
“We have presented our grievances to the committee today and we are still waiting for a response from them” Presidential candidate Mohamed Ali Nur Americo told Radio Dalsan in an interview.
“The police boss has in the past publicly supported Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and we are concerned that of the voting is held at the Police Academy it may be jeopardised. We demand for a level playing ground” Nur added.
It remains to be seen if the Committee will give in to the pressure and move the location to Halane as only less than 5 days remain to the elections
