VIDEO: Emotional speech by president ally ahead of deputy speaker election trending on social media

A speech delivered by Farah Abdulkadir tracing his humble beginnings as a premature baby born to a mother in a remote village in Ethiopia trended on Sunday.

Abdulkadir delivered the speech at the opening of the 10th Parliament in Mogadishu.

“My mother gave birth to me when she was only 7 months pregnant. She prayed for me to lead this country” Abdulkadir said.

“People in the village doubted how this baby  will survive but my mother stern that one day I will lead this country and contribute immensely to its development” he told Parliamentarians.

“My mother advised me not to let the negative talk by the people be a stamoling block to my life” he said.

” If i would not have listened to my mother I probably wouldn’t been standing here running for the second Deputy Speaker of the House.

The speech trended receiving varied reaction from the public on the social media.

Abdulkadir is a close friend to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

He was born in Aabaaley in Ethiopia’s Somali region.

He was one of the country’s well known academician  and he together with Preaident Mohamud cofounded Somalia’s premier  private higher level institute the Simad University.

According to analysts Abdulkadir’s performance on the Second Deputy Speaker may well reflect incumbent president Mohamud’s results in the January 22 presidential elections.

More than 10 candidates are eyeing the seat with Abdulkadir facing stiffest competition from Khadija Diriye and Mudey.
