FM Mohamed Abdirizak To Address UN Security Council On Somalia Situation Ahead Of Elections

Somali Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdirizak has said that he would meet with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the 15-member Security Council.

The purpose of the meeting with the members of the Security Council is to brief them on the current situation of Somalia and to listen to their suggestions.

“My trip has several purposes. The first is to strengthen the relationship between Somalia and the United States and work on the expansion plan,”

“As a new leader arrives, I will meet with the five official members and then I will share a report on the situation in the country with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, ”said Somali Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud.

The minister said he met with some of the ambassadors of countries interested in Somalia, and discussed the situation in the country and the changes.

The government last month announced upcoming parliamentary and presidential election will cost $40 million and 90% of the funds to be funded by the international community the government pays 10%.

Somalia’s elections are still in dispute, there are many obstacles due to political disagreement over the electoral processes.
