Joe Biden defeats Trump in race for US Presidency

Democrat Joe Biden has won the US presidential elections after the surpassing 270 votes.

The official results however will be declared on December 14, after final voting but Biden is the projected winner.

Biden will in the process become the oldest president after he was innaugrated in January 2021.

Biden’s win in Pennsylvania ensured he surpassed the 270votes that determine who is elected the president in the US regardless of the popular votes.

Immediately after he was announced winner, Biden gave a statement on his Twitter page saying he was honoured as he promised to be a president of all Americans.

“America, I’m honoured that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me,” he said.

Former Democratic candidate in the 2016 US Election Hillary Clinton who lost to incumbent Trump termed Biden’s win as a new page for America.

“The voters have spoken, and they have chosen @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris to be our next president and vice president. It’s a history-making ticket, a repudiation of Trump, and a new page for America. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Onward, together.” she twitted.
