The new Turkish Ambassador to Somalia Mehmet Yılmaz on Wednesday his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ahmed Isse Awad.
Mr Yilmaz takes over from Dr Olgan Bekar who’s duty of mission ended last month after overseeing four years of diplomatic relations between Ankara and Mogadishu.
“I am proud of my four years of service and will never forget the love the Somali people have for our people and Country. Good bye Somalia” Dr Bekar said in an emotional farewell tweet.
Turkey has one of the biggest embassies in the World in Mogadishu.
President Erdogan and senior government officials of Turkey visited Somalia at different times with Turkey offering assistance to the Somali people and government in both humanitarian and development nature since 2011.
Turkey trains the Somalia National Army and it’s national flag bearer Turkish Airlines was the first major international airline that opened up the Somalia skies.
