Bal’ad Residents Show More Interest In ‘One Person One Vote’ Campaign

The chairperson of the Somali National Elections Commission Halima Ismail said that residents in Bal’ad in the Middle Shabelle have shown more interest in the ‘one person one vote’ campaign as compared to all the other towns they have so far covered.

Mrs Halima and her team were welcomed to Bal’ad by the district commissioner Qasim Ali Nur.

The team was going around visiting different regions of the country to create awareness of the campaign and discuss with local communities on how to make it possible by 2020.

If this initiative succeeds, the people of Somalia will have the opportunity to elect leaders who will be accountable to them.
