Car bomb kills two officers near Somali parliament building

Two government officers have been killed after their security convy was hit by a suicide car-bomb blast that was claimed by the hardline Al shabaab group.

“”There was a heavy blast caused by a car loaded with explosives alongside the Sayidka road, several members of the security were injured in the incident” security officer said.

The scene occurred the explosion is frequently used by security agencies in Mogadishu.

The car bomb hit into a vehicle belonging to Somali intelligence agency near Sayid-ka junction in Mogadishu.

“The blast was very huge, I saw smoke and fire overshadowing the whole area,” said witness Abdi .

Al-Shabab was pushed out of Mogadishu by the African Union peacekeeping force AMISOM in 2011 but has remained a potent threat in Somalia, launching frequent attacks aimed at overthrowing the Western-backed government.
