15 Killed In Khat Market Blast Near Mogadishu

A suicide bomber detonated himself at a busy Khat market in Southern Somalia killing at least 15 people and injuring more on Wednesday,  Radio Dalsan reports.

The explosion occurred in the town of Wanlaweyn which is less than 90km north west of Somalia capital Mogadishu. 

Authorities confirmed to Radio Dalsan reporter in Wanlaweyn that at least 15 people were killed.

One soldier died in the blast while the rest were civilians that included women Khat vendors.

The death toll is expected to rise according to the Radio Dalsan Somali Service Reporter.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack although in the past similar attacks have been attributed by militant group Alshabaab.
