Riyadh: Five people including three children died after fire broke out in their apartment in Al-Jamea district in southern Jeddah.
The three children of Somali origin died of suffocation as they could not be rescued in time, reported local Arabic daily Sabq.
Another Somali couple died on the spot after inhaling smoke as a result of fire in their two-bedroom apartment.
Civil Defence team broke open the door in an attempt to save them, but they had already died.
Mecca Civil Defence Official Spokesman Colonel Said Sarhan said that an investigation was launched into the incident to ascertain the cause of fire in the building.
